Diagnosing 5 Common Ductless Noises in Ladson, SC
If your Ladson, SC ductless system is making noises, you won’t know how to proceed until you diagnose the causes of the sounds. A noise can indicate that something is wrong, but that’s not always the case. However, there are five ductless noises that usually mean there is some type of issue with your ductless system.
1. Clicks When the System Turns On and Off
It’s normal to hear a clicking sound when the system turns on or off. This usually happens when the system’s relay switches activate or deactivate. But if you hear clicking that never stops, there is possibly an electrical issue that requires help from an HVAC technician.
2. Buzzing Noises
If you hear the ductless system making a buzzing sound, it can mean there’s some sort of electrical problem. It could be a loose wire, a failing capacitor or some other malfunction. You might hear a buzzing sound as your system starts up, but if the noise continues, it is cause for concern.
3. Bubbling and Gurgling Sounds
The sound of bubbling or gurgling can simply mean that refrigerant is moving through the lines. But if the bubbling and gurgling are excessive, there’s possibly a refrigerant leak. Since refrigerant is a toxic substance, you should contact an HVAC technician to check for a leak.
4. Screeching or Squealing Sounds
Screeching or squealing usually happens when there’s an issue with the ductless fan motor or the compressor. Anything from worn-out bearings to a malfunctioning motor could cause these noises.
5. The System Is Rattling
Rattling noises often occur due to loose parts. There’s possibly even a part that’s broken completely free and rolling around inside the system.
Some ductless noises are harmless, but some can indicate a serious problem. If you have concerns about ductless noises, contact AC Heating and Air Conditioning Services today to set up a repair for your ductless system.
